About TLG

Beginnings & Establishment Of The Logistics Group

The Logistics Group was formed late 2018 after the unbundling of all the logistics assets in Capespan and had its roots in SA port terminals since the 1980’s.

In April 2022 The Logistics Group was acquired through one of the largest empowerment transactions yet in South Africa involving a logistics company, when private equity fund African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM) and the Mokobela-Shataki Consortium brought TLG into their fold. Up until then, The Logistics Group had been part of the listed Zeder Group.

Since 2019 The Logistics Group has been implementing a corridor strategy to create an efficient supply chain through our companies, linking all our terminals and capabilities throughout Southern Africa.

Private port terminal operator FPT through its terminals in Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Durban were originally the core of TLG’s business, operating quayside terminals for mainly fruit exports. Over the past six years TLG have diversified and used FPT to pivot to a multi cargo terminal and logistics operator in Southern Africa. TLG service offering and capabilities are now corridor focused and offer a diversified cargo mix.

In order to be all things logistics on all major Southern African trade corridors, TLG has plugged into wider regional corridors through its subsidiaries TLG Mozambique Ressano bulk terminal, Saldanha Dry Bulk Terminal, The Africa Rail Company, TLC Namibia , TLG Zambia , Matola Cargo Terminal and MTM Beira terminal.

Today TLG services the mining, agricultural, trading, manufacturing and shipping sectors through our bulk, breakbulk, container, specialized cargo, liquids, cold chain and warehousing as well as private port berths, encompassing all front-of-port and back-of-port facilities for imports and exports.

TLG offers full supply chain solutions through road and rail services to and from our logistic platforms, which extends to cross-border private rail capabilities with our own rail rolling stock.

With forty years of experience, TLG is today an empowered logistics giant in South Africa and beyond. We are set to become the leader in Southern Africa corridor logistics through our entrepreneurial spirit and the amazing team of people that calls TLG their home.
